Achter de Spiegel

Synopsis

A piece for all audiences, inspired freely by Lewis Carroll’s book, in which the dancers take turns as ‘Alice’ – a ballerina lost on a stage – and the theatre technicians, elements of the set, abandoned props, and other dancers join forces to lead Alice into a world of nonsense.  The choreography alternates between abstract moments and more narrative sequences that nevertheless remain stylised.  Rebellion, violence, and conflict between normality and abnormality are the main threads running through ‘Behind the Looking Glass’, which races along at quite a clip and tries to avoid the vapid pretty-prettiness of most children’s productions.
