Red Rubber Balls

Synopsis

Red Rubber Balls’ is a new multimedia dance performance by Thierry Smits and Compagnie Thor. The piece is based on the play of the same name, written by the Flemish writer Peter Verhelst on commission to the Kaaitheater. The soundtrack was compiled by Geert Feytons of Noise-Maker’s Fifes. The designer is Trudo Engels and the dramaturge Hans Theys.
This performance is by no means spoken theatre in the strict sense of the term, but the text is always present in all manner of ways: recorded by the actors, sung, and projected on the set, a screen and the dancers’ bodies. In this way the text acts to support the dance, as do the music and the set design.
