Nicola Leahey


Nicola Leahey was born in Australia in 1989 where she studied classical dance at the Terry Simpson Studios and then continued her training at the New Zealand School of Dance. In 2009, she was invited by Dance North to dance in Nowhere Fast by Ross McCormack before joining the company full time the following year, dancing for Raewyn Hill and guest choreographers such as Rob Tannion, Ross McCormack and Elie Tass.

In 2011 she moved to Europe, working for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, guesting in Faun, in the premiere of Puz/zle at the Festival d’Avignon, and appearing in the music video Valtari by Icelandic band Sigur Rós. In 2012, Nicola joined Compagnie Thor for ClearTears | Troubled Waters and has been working on the company’s next projects since then: Cocktails (2014) and Revolt (to be premiered in 2015)
