What makes our bodies human? What makes our bodies animal ?
Where does the need for humans to dig a ditch between them and ‘animals’ is coming from?
Ranging the socially constructed spectrum of animality, On all fours is a field for performative tool making, exploration of language and creation of a playground for looking inside of what’s animal.
This performative research, is a voluntary return to primal states. As gender non-conforming bodies, we want to reclaim our proximity with animality. Considering aestheticization of sexuality, we want to highlight the link between the sexualisation of minoritised bodies and speciesism. In fact, these objectified bodies are subjected to precise standards, formatting them into canonised, reproducible images. Following Drag Culture practices, we want to include cultural keys such as gay classifications (bear, wolf, otter, etc) and kink practices (puppy play, sub/dom, pony play, furries, etc), playing with it as reformative and performative tools for the piece and challenge language of theater.
Using plays of roles, we want to see where this animal cross-dressing reveals human characteristics.
