Edube is an intimate and visual journey where the performer invites us to dive into the depths of his personal experience. Through his journey, he whispers profound questions: What is family? What is friendship? Love? Who am I amidst these relationships that shape and erode my being?
Romuald Dikoume (CM)
The characters he portrays are fragments of human stories, glimpses of life that, like mirrors, reflect the multiple facets of his identity as a social being. For this project, he uses materials such as sea salt, water, fire, petrol, pigments, and a cross.
Born in 1986 in Cameroon, Romuald Dikoume (he, him) is a visual artist who lives and works in Douala. Marked by a destabilizing family history, he finds salvation in art. His pictorial expression, figurative and naïve, focuses on certain characters set in a dense and colorful environment, reminiscent of outsider art. His performances are imbued with the torments of existential suffering and solitude, questioning the fragmentation of the self, parent-child relationships, and personality duality. In recent years, his paintings, photographs, performances, and installations have been showcased in various venues in Cameroon, as well as in Congo, Gabon, Chad, Morocco, and France.
