A certain rage drives this solo piece by choreographer and dancer Zora Snake. For about ten years, his dance has moved between Cameroon and the European continent, drawing from multiple influences—hip-hop, contemporary, and ritualistic. It takes shape both in the streets and on the stage, creating a powerful dialogue with our present time.
Zora Snake (CM)
Le Départ directly confronts injustice. Zora Snake envisions the space of this solo as a jungle ruled by the law of the strongest, at the heart of which we find a body trapped within a system of multiple dominations—against which it must fight. The result is a nervous, electric dance, steeped in shadows and fully committed physically from head to toe. How can a body, perceived as prey, turn the tide and rise in protest, illuminating both its present and its future? Through a unique choreographic language, Zora Snake’s movement seeks pathways, blending breakdance, popping, and krump—eager to draw from these diverse styles to fuel a form of active resistance. Here, dance transforms into a possible space for self-expression, revealing the tremors of a world in upheaval as it transitions into something new.
