Through fragile, invisible, transparent elements, an exploration of writing as movement.
Gesture, voice and poetry are unstable materials, caught between appearance and disappearance, presence and erasure.
Garance Buxtorf
In this piece, Garance Buxtorf writes her poems with condensation on an old window hanging from the ceiling. A kettle on the floor produces steam: the writing appears, then fades away. Next to it, headphones play a sound piece. We hear her reading and singing her texts, mixed with other sounds. The words settle, overlap, and sometimes become illegible.
The audience guesses, recomposes, and invents another text through their eyes. The headphones create a special closeness: they isolate, draw you into the intimacy of the voice, into a more internal state of listening; it is speech that is not addressed directly.
Garance Buxtorf (they/them in writing, he/him in speech) is a 26-year-old poet, performer and sculptor whose work revolves around the practice of poetic writing in the form of performance and sound installations. They work focuses on sexuality, nightlife, the party atmosphere, non-binarity, friendship and urban landscapes. After completing a master’s degree at the École de Recherche Graphique (ERG) in Brussels, Garance Buxtorf are currently working on a collection of poetry and performances, and are involved in radio with the experimental collective P-Node.
