The performance will be an attempt to involve people in verbal and physical play and to learn simple Polish rhymes and poems.
The songs and rhymes will be chosen from those that have a very strong semantic structure, and that Polish children actually learn from kindergarten.
Marta Bosowska (PL)
In this performance, I refer to the latest research, which shows that one in five Poles has symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which is linked to generational trauma. Trauma is passed on from one generation to the next, among other things through the excessive exposure and the trivialisation of history.
As Poles, we are often portrayed – even by ourselves – as more bitter, complaining and pessimistic, believing in eternal misfortune than other nations. The performance will show these characteristics through the mirror of proverbs.
Marta Bosowska (born 1984, Poland) (she, her) works mainly with installations, sculptures, objects, videos and performances. She is interested in memory as a medium and as a component of the process of creating an artwork. She explores concepts related to memory, ritual and remains, and investigates the social status of places. She is inspired by emptiness, the concepts of absence, oblivion, exclusion and the blurring of history. She often creates site-specific works in liminal spaces and makes symbolic references to site, surroundings, history and local communities.
