“Hugo gave me his notebook more than seven years ago. He had made me promise to keep writing all the stories I invented. So I wrote—but about stories I wanted to live. Then, about those I had lived but found impossible to say out loud.
Today, I still write, but on my computer.”
Romain Clary (BE)
We are all mad here is a performance in three acts, embodied by a young adult retracing his own whimsical writings from adolescence to the present—and even those of the future that he is already imagining.
Blending text, reading, body, and visuals, this unique, sensitive, and fragile experimental performance explores the discovery, then the frantic and tumultuous encounter, with one’s own fantasies.
Romain Clary (he, him) is a master’s student in Textile Design at La Cambre in Brussels. It was in this context that he first encountered performance art during a course entitled Performance and the Art of the Body. There, he explored and experimented with his own writing practice, linking and embodying it with his body.
