What
In this choreography Thierry Smits articulates that sense of nostalgia and dereliction associated with our world in crisis, in which it is challenging to imagine what the future might hold, so much so in fact that it seems to be overwhelmed by what we are losing, starting with hope.
Clear Tears/Troubled Waters, however, does not wallow in a gloomy and desperate vision of what the future could be, thanks to the actions of the seven dancers who struggle to avoid the pitfalls scattered along their passages on stage, represented by ominous, moving and threatening luminous columns that could be perceived as other entities dancing. Not only do the virtuoso performers express their dismay, but also their tenacity, to music that both carries them and inspires them, and played live by musicians onstage. They move towards what could be considered a utopian final scene and a newfound freedom.
