The artist likes to mix straight-talk and care of and concern for the other. She revives memories of her mixed heritage and her Catholic upbringing so as to offer individual meetings, observable from the outside, in the crypt of the Église Saint-Josse, combining foot care, readings of sacred texts, offerings, and dialogue. Transmission and ritual.
Ophélie Mac (BE)
Ophélie Mac is an activist afro-feminist artist who defines herself as a ceramist-performer; she has been working in Brussels since 2012. She questions her roots, her dual culture, her religions, her intimacy and the relationship with the public. She has performed in Brussels at the Halles de Schaerbeek, at the Kaaistudio’s, at the Brass, and at the Ateliers Claus during “ceremonies.” The spoken element, a late arrival in her work that combines hedonism and straight-talk, has today become a central part of her performances.
