Memory is a space-time to which it’s sometimes painful to return.
Matilde Gazeau Frade (BE)
In an attempt to undo a habitual gesture, to dig up what’s underneath, to return somewhere and to return something, Matilde Gazeau Fraide confronts mourning, her own dust, what remains and has been concealed. Showing what is hidden away is equally as important as showing.
Matilde Gazeau Frade is finishing her master’s degree in Book and Paper Design at La Cambre. By way of her books, performances, installations, poems and sentimental lists, she talks about devotion and grief, love and loss, the everyday and the poetic, the slowness and complexity of artistic practice, homesickness and loneliness.
